private utility locating

the right call before you dig

There’s a lot buried beneath the ground – water and electrical lines, parking lot lighting, gas pipes, oxygen lines and storm sewer laterals just to name a few. It’s a real subterranean spiderweb. In actuality the majority of underground facilities are privately owned and therefore not marked by 811 locators. If you’re about to excavate on your jobsite, or even dig on your own property, our private locating team can help identify everything hiding below the surface utilizing the most advanced equipment available on the market today including electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar and induction equipment to show you what you are facing before you even pick up a shovel. Remember, it’s not simply about latitude and longitude; you need to know where these buried treasures are and that is where GroundBreakers can help with our hydrovac units to safely and precisely expose those hidden gems before they cost you time and money.

811 ISN'T THE FULL 411

GroundBreakers is different from the public utility locating services (the “Call Before You Dig” folks).  We focus on everything that isn’t covered by the public services, like the lines running from the street to your house, irrigation systems, non-metallic pipes, electrical cables, and any other private infrastructure that doesn’t fall under the public utility umbrella. You’re not off the hook just because you’ve called 811.

SUBSURFACE UTILITY ENGINEERING FIELD SERVICES

From planning a project to staying ahead of it once it’s underway, our SUE Field Services help project managers identify and eliminate risks to avoid surprises and project delays.

We precisely map out all the underground utilities, so engineers, utility owners, and DOTs can make the right call at the right time about whether to re-design their project or relocate the utilities ahead of the project. Combined with site surveys, our SUE team helps you stay on schedule by staying on top of what’s underground. We partner with engineering firms looking to obtain the most precise and accurate data.

"PRETTY SURE" IS
PRETTY DANGEROUS

If you’re a surveyor, contractor, engineer, architect, or business owner doing any kind of digging or excavation, you need private locating. Think of it as cheap insurance that saves you from expensive headaches.

Our Union Pros use electromagnetic sensors, ground-penetrating radar, and other equipment to map out where various utility lines are buried. This saves you from busting a sewer pipe, slicing through your neighbor’s fiber optic cable, hitting a gas line and more by giving you a view of what lies below, so you can dig with confidence.

Once everything is marked, you’ll get a detailed report, complete with maps and recommendations. That way, you’ll know exactly where not to dig.
